The second batch of training for data collectors ran from the 11th to 16th July, 2011. Participants had the opportunity to meet and interact with some delegations from the international and local partners of the NPECLC. The delegations were from the Geneva and Ghana offices of the International Labour Organization/International Programmme for Elimination of Child Labour (ILO/IPEC), the United States Department of Labour (USDoL) and the Chocolate and Cocoa Industry in the United States of America.
The delegates were introduced to the Ghana Child Labour Monitoring System (GCLMS) Data Capturing Software (DCS) and its operation and they expressed gratification with the design of the software. They suggested a review of the data collection tools after the pre-testing exercise. The delegations applauded Ghana’s efforts towards the implementation of the GCLMS that would provide reliable and credible data on the child labour situation of the children, the risks to which they are exposed and the subsequent referral for appropriate remedial action.
