GCLMS document developed

In the quest to have an active process for stopping child labour in the communities, the concept of Community Child Labour Monitoring System (CCLMS) was developed as tool to directly oversee activities of children living within a community.  Having realized the role that the CCLMS plays in the process of interventions and the possible administrative and technical inconsistencies that can arise, the International Child Labour Monitoring System (I-CCLMS) and the Community Child Labour Monitoring System (CCLMS) have been standardized and termed the Ghana Child Labour Monitoring System (GCLMS).  Ghana believes that the GCLMS when implemented would enhance the country’s ability to deal effectively with child labour and meet its international obligations.

The GCLMS Involves direct observations to identify child labourers, children at risk and to determine the kind of risks children are exposed to, refer identified children for remedial action, verify that the children  they have been removed from the hazards and to ensure that they have satisfactory and sustainable alternatives. Thus the GCLMS is both a remediation and a monitoring tool. [GCLMS Concept]
