The NPECLC is under the Ministry of Employment and Social Welfare, and it is staffed by five technical persons and four programme assistants. The secretariat is headed by the National Programme Manager who is in charge of the day to day running of the secretariat. The National Steering Committee (NSC) on Elimination of Child Labour provides the Government of Ghana with direction towards the overall elimination of child labour in the country. The NSC has a Cocoa Sub-Committee which also provides advice and technical support to the NPECLC to ensure that its work contributes to the achievement of the overall goal of the National Plan of Action on Elimination of Child Labour. The Technical Working Group (TWG) is a key structure of the NPECLC. The TWG is made up of 20 persons with technical experience in issues relating to child labour in the cocoa sector. It is chaired by the Deputy Chief Executive (Operations) of Ghana Cocoa Board. The TWG provides technical advice for organization of the surveys. It also provides technical backstopping to the implementation of the objectives of the NPECLC. |
